We just got a new shipment of helmets in today, with more grey and, wait for it… RED helmets!
Summertime is just around the corner, and June is Bike month, so grab a helmet and get outside!
You can download some new jams for your biking-in-the-sun playlist over at Winnie Cooper, a local Vancouver music blog.
In case you haven’t heard about it, check out Velopalooza, happening all this week, with tons of events for every kind of cyclist. We’ll have a small table set up at the Finale Festival this Sunday, June 13th at Strathcona Park. Come say hi!
Today’s Vancouver Sun has an article about our great friend Danny McCash, who has been our main inspiration behind The Prohab Helmet Society. It focuses a little more on the dangers of cycling, and not as much about how to prevent accidents.
The article briefly mentions Prohab as well, but slightly undershoots how many helmets we’ve given, Oh well. It’s still a pretty good read for your rainy Monday mornings!
Also, We’re looking to have our new (way nicer) website up and running in the first or second week of June! It’s being designed by David Christy and Internet, check them out!
Berets and helmets, together at last?
I’m sure it seemed like a good idea at the time… I think we’ll stick with our C4 Lites.
But who knows, maybe a Prohab 2011 line?
We have a Twitter account now, which you can follow HERE.
It may be a little slow moving at first, but as our 2010 projects pick up, I’m sure we’ll have a plethora of tweets on their way.
It’s been a little while with no posting, That doesn’t mean we’re not busy!
First of all, this happened a little while back, but I keep getting asked about it. The 2010 calendar is sold out! Thank you to everyone who purchased one, the project was a huge success. The proceeds are helping Prohab grow as a non-profit, and purchase new helmets for those in need.
That said, we have a lot of helmets waiting for heads! Check our Request a helmet page to get your hands on one!
We’re still in the works on a couple large projects for this year. The only one I can tell you about right now is the followup 2011 Prohab Calendar! We’re going to try to make this one bigger and better than last years, if that’s even possible!
The weather just keeps getting warmer! Ride safe!
I came across this photo advertising biking apparel, and couldn’t help but notice the model is biking in heavy traffic without a helmet (the picture file name is even called “Heavy traffic”). Prohab isn’t here to force helmets on people, -moreso to provide the option to people who want to wear one- but really, how is it going to negatively impact your clothing sales if you plop a helmet on the model? We also don’t want to single out one company, as this is a pretty common occurence.
Here’s a helmetless magazine cover featuring Tina Fey. Celebrities have a huge influence on the general public. If we could afford it, Prohab would hire a celebrity spokesperson, but since I don’t see that happening, we can only hope that larger businesses can take responsibility in their advertising.
Here’s an interesting article on the subject.
Leave a comment, let us know what you think!

THIS BLOG knows what we’re talkin about!
From the about section: “Well, I ride around a lot, and I see a lot of pretty folks on a lot of pretty horses but – alas! – so many without helmets. What’s with that? Love your lid. Lid pride! Helmets are hot. Didn’t anyone else notice how hard the road is these days? And handsignals? Man… I don’t pop my cork for every guy I see but when I see a good, clean handsignal… does it for me every time.”
We’re restocked! Just in time, as the sun is coming out!
We have MACE C4 Lite helmets in matte black and matte grey. They come with a reflective Prohab sticker on the back, and another one supplied in the box.
Please refer to this sizing chart to find your fit, and then send us an email to request one.
Also, we’d like to remind you that at this time we can only provide helmets to the Greater Vancouver area in British Columbia.
Judging by the lineups for the skytrain, and the car traffic from the Olympics, we’re going to be seeing a lot more bikes zooming around the city, so ride safe everyone!
We’re very excited to announce that MACE Helmets have agreed to sponsor Prohab! With their support, we’re able to get more helmets on more heads!
Thank you MACE! (the company. I’d like to also thank the rapper, but I’ll save that for another post.)
This is a huge step towards Prohab becoming a sustainable non-profit. I’ll announce our first helmet shipment of 2010 when it arrives. Keep checking back!
Also, We’re pretty much sold out of the 2010 calendars, but we still have a straggler or two lying around. If you want a copy, place an order quick!
I’m late on posting this, so hopefully everyone has already opened their calendars to January!
We have big plans for 2010!
-After January 15th, we’ll receive news on a big sponsorship opportunity. If everything goes well, our operating costs will go down significantly, and we’ll be able to expand our operation.
-We’ll be working on the lengthy process of moving our non-profit status up a step to become a registered charity.
-We’ll be receiving our next (huge) order of helmets within the next month as well.
We’ll keep you posted!
